Even though my greatest passion is ultimately reserved for photography dealing with social issues and human rights (more to come here soon), travel photography and short travel essays will always stay close to my heart. To say the least, this week has been very kind to the captures I made while traveling in Oman. After having been noticed on Instagram by photo editors of Times of Oman and having a photo gallery filled with my shots published online here and here, the newspaper also commissioned me to write an accompanying short essay that was later printed in their Sunday issue. I feel grateful for the honor to be featured on the front page of a newspaper I used to read every morning before heading out to capture the beauty of the marvelous country it reports on.
A nice additional bonus came in the form of an email from the editors of Siraj Daily, a Malayalam language newspaper with an office in Muscat, who, akin to the editors of Times of Oman, found some of my photography on Instagram and wished to feature it in their print issue. Suffice to say: I was glad to be featured there too (PDF link). If there is any fluent reader of Malayalam, let me know what the caption says! :)
